Brazilian Paper | Hand Marbled | Swirl | Blue

This item is temporary out of stock

Renato Crepaldi's marbled papers are created through an ongoing investigation of the connection between a classic method and contemporary materials. The majority of his papers are rooted in the traditional marbled patterns, utilising the same tools and techniques as the early 18th and 19th century producers.
The production method relies on Josef Halfer's carragheen size technique from the 1880s, but uses acrylic paint instead. This choice results in a waterproof and stable film after drying, making it more resistant to rubbing and moisture than traditional watercolour. The paints used are all artist grade and the palette only contains pigments with excellent and very good light-fastness ratings.
