Nepalese Paper | Lokta | Big Drop | 3 COLOURS

In stock! Usually ships within 24 hours.

Nepalese Lokta paper is crafted by local families in Nepal and is  fair trade classified. It is environmentally-friendly and made from the fibrous bark of the Daphne Shrub or Lokta Bush. The plant is able to fully regenerate within 4-5 years after harvesting, ensuring a constant supply without negatively impacting the forest ecosystem. These exquisite papers promote both the ecology and village economies.

Each sheet of Lokta paper is meticulously handmade using traditional methods, including mould and deckle framing, and is dyed or screen printed by hand. The handcrafted nature of Lokta paper results in unique irregularities that only enhance its charm. Durable and versatile, Lokta paper is perfect for a variety of artistic applications, and its natural resistance to insects and humidity makes it an ideal choice for preservation purposes.
